Chapter Secretary – Please read to your members at your next stated meeting.

Dear Chapter Members:

Our Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Barbara Bona, has decided to continue the “Support Our Troops” project and has asked me to take over the project from Sister Judi Lewis who did a fantastic job last year.

There are many ways that we can use this project to support our troops. We have the usual items that can be sent, candy, gum, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. There are also requests for some food items, such as Ramen noodles, microwave popcorn, packaged cookies, and packaged soup mixes. Also some items you may not think of, stress relief squeeze balls, sewing kits, icy/hot patches, heat wraps, etc. Small toys such as balls, beach balls, etc. would be great for the soldiers to give to the children. There is a list of items posted on the OES website that are acceptable. Please do not donate any items, such as shaving cream, hairspray or anything whose contents may be under pressure. These types of items can explode as the cargo bays on the planes get below freezing when flying.

I would also like each Chapter (if possible) to take a picture of members, at meetings, collations, and write a generic note from the chapters and send them to me by email (noted at the top of this form). Many service members do not receive anything, so our packages are going to an Army chaplain who will distribute our items to many service members. I thought it would be nice for them to know a little something about all of us. Let us spread the word about our wonderful order! I will copy the letters you send to me so that they can be attached to the items. In addition, I would like to send out some Holiday cards so please have your chapter members sign some cards so that they can also be shipped with the packages.

I will be traveling around to your Chapters when I can, but it would also be helpful to have an area coordinator so that items can be delivered to me as quickly as possible to get them sent out. Please let me know if you can be a coordinator for Chapters in your area of the state. I should be at most of the Visitations this year, so if you have items, please be sure and bring them to your Visitation. If I am unable to be there, I will make sure that someone will pick up your donations.

Another way for chapters to donate to this wonderful project is to make a monetary donation to assist with the costs of shipping these items. Please make a check out to me, Susan D. Ferguson, if your Chapter would like to help in this way.

Thank you for your help and your continued support of this project.

This letter has the approval of the Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Barbara M Bona.

In Star Love,

Susan D. Ferguson, PM, Chairperson
Support Our Troops Project
