I'm a native of Rye, NH & my wife is from Winchester, NH. I graduated from Portsmouth HS in '61 & NH College in '69. Hello, I'm a 23 yr old student and very curious about the Eastern star organization, My great grandmother was involved in the Eastern Star & my great grandfather was involved in the masons... in Michigan. I inheriated what seems as a ceramonial sword be utifully engraved and also have some pictures of my great grandparents in a type of meeting w/ an abundance of symbols.. I learned about the Order of the Eastern Star through a friend. I am EXTREMELY disappointed to find out that I am forbidden to join because I am not related to a Mason. I am single, and none of the men in my family would consider a society like the Maso s, but does that make me a bad person, somehow unworthy of being a member of your society? I don't believe that, and I can't believe a society of caring, intelligent women would promote a rule like that one.

I have been a member of star since November 1997. I am the youngest memebr in my jurisdiction. I am eighteen years of age. I was a jobie for eight years, and I have moved on to star. The members in my chapter #63 Summerland, are so very kind and frien ly. I have never in my life experienced such warm and friendly people. I am very excited about my membership in star, and my chapter is very excited about having me there. My chapter is relatively small, however, they are all just wonderful people. Th y have supported me so much in the last 5 months, that it is very hard to belive, that I have only been a member for that long. They are all so willing to help me. I had several members (unknowing that they were my neighbors) call me before my initiatio , and see if I had any questions. It was pretty neat. My chapter is so supportive of my adbancement in star.
