Comments: I am a native of Buffalo, New York, where my father was a Mason and my mother a member of the NorthEast Chapter of the Eastern Star. I am doing some research on fraternal organizations for my own work (I am a writer). You web site is very attractive, but not especially informative (I would like to know more about how the name "Eastern Star" relates to the organization, for example.) I am a Christiam (a VERY unorthodox one, but still a Christian), and have been a church organist for most of my 40+ years of life. The name "Eastern Star" sounds vaguely like a reference to what most Christians (mistakenly) call the "Star of the East." As most "intellectual" Christians are aware, it was the wise men who were in the East, NOT the star. If these men had traveled ast from their original location, they would have found themselves in China, NOT in Bethlehem. Do you remember to traditional Christmas hymn "We Three Kings?" The chorus contains the (correct) words "westward leading, still proceeding." The star was actua ly SEEN by the wise men who, themselves, were in the east. The star was in the west. I would like to see an explanation of this by the Eastern Star fraternity. (I never asked my mother about this because she was such a lovely person and I didn't want to u set her.) Also, what's with all the jack-o-lanterns and the ugly Halloween music on your site? Did someone "trash" your web site, or was it (God forbid) deliberate? The music and pumpkins do NOT add much "class" to your web site. You would do well to get rid of the . Thanks for allowing me to speak "my piece." I still admire your organization for all of the good things it does.
